EMPLOYERS’ HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

If any of your employees drive their own cars or vans in the course of their duties, you are operating a 'grey fleet'.

As their employer, it's not just good practice but a requirement to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including having robust policies to manage your drivers and ensure they receive adequate training.

Skills for Safer Journeys Plus is the perfect package. It includes the policy documents you require by law and a training course accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for your drivers.

TAKE THE COMPLIANCE TEST BY ANSWERING THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

  1. Do you have an adequate policy to manage your grey fleet drivers?
  2. Do you assess the health and safety of your drivers regularly?
  3. Do you have records of health and safety assessments demonstrating your drivers' capabilities and competencies?

If you didn't answer yes to all of the above, don't worry. Skills for Safer Journeys Plus can provide you with the tools and support you need to ensure fleet compliance and the health and safety of your drivers.

Every journey your drivers undertake begins and ends in the UK's most hazardous workplace: the road network. Are they adequately trained - and do you have the appropriate policies to prove it?

"Having worked in the Road Transport Industry for nearly 40 years and having been an Expert Witness in many serious and fatal road traffic collisions, the importance of emergency first aid at the scene of such incidents should not be overlooked. Driver First Assist gives that opportunity to ensure that more individuals and road users have the skills to secure a scene and to apply emergency first aid, before the Emergency Services arrive thereby, improving the chances of survival for the most critically injured. I would encourage anyone who travels on a regular basis and therefore, might be the first person on the scene to attend one of these courses and obtain vital life-saving skills."
